She discovered Hatha yoga in her mid-twenties when working in residential homes for the elderly. She now practices Hatha and Kundalini yoga. Fay recognized the grounding benefits of mindfulness when helping her own children cope with the stressors in their lives. The emotional, mental and physical awareness that a yoga practice teaches has improved all aspects of her life. Fay has worked with children for many years. Working in a school setting for children with cerebral palsy and care homes for children with autism. Fay volunteered as a scout leader for three years and has run a home daycare while raising her own sons. It is through this broad experience that she recognized the importance of emotional literacy, self-regulation and understanding perspective. Fay believes these skills build resilience and improve relationships. Fay grew up near the Peak District in northern England surrounded by countryside. Her love of nature has always brought her joy. She has travelled to the Himalayas, rainforests and Africa to experience different landscapes and cultures. It is in Kenya that she met her Canadian husband and came to live in Toronto. Her love of the Canadian outdoors continues to grow, recently taking up kayaking, portaging and skiing . Fay enjoys being a mom. Watching her two boys grow has been a privilege and continues to inspire her. She has a BA in Fine Art and paints in a home studio. Social emotional learning was an integral part of the day to day and something I loved to help navigate. I trained as a children’s yoga teacher with Young Yoga Masters in 2019. It was here I had my own aha moment of what my future held. I saw a way to bring everything I love into my vocation, kids, yoga, art, creativity, group discussion and laughter. Radiant moon children’s yoga became my new venture. Children are naturally creative and mindful, they already practice restorative activities such as reading, walking or playing. They engage in creative hobbies and often live in the moment mindfully. It is my hope to bring awareness to this and to teach them new techniques which will support them as they grow. The inclusive and non competitive nature of the program makes it a wonderful addition to their lives. As adults, we recognize the benefits, and our children are no different. How amazing would it have been to know the practice of meditation and yoga when we were in elementary school, high school or university and have it accompany us through difficult periods of our young lives? Living with our busy schedules, which are invigorating and full of activity, we often need a reminder to include quiet time. Daily reflection allows the space to learn and grow from our experiences. Children recharge and relax. A series of 6 classes is a great way to begin. This introduces the routines and children can learn what to expect. I will discuss the content with parents/ caregivers prior to the class and plan ahead with any props needed. Most items children already have e.g., stuffed toy, ball etc. Printable sheets will be forwarded to you. Each week I will communicate with you what to expect and how to prepare. A really fun class is a scavenger hunt with clues all hidden in your location or a stuffy animal of mine has wandered off, only to be found in your house. How crazy is that!!!! Young children find this concept magical.
